Artist's Comments

I love making fractal leaves. Problem is, I get a leaf pattern going and then have no idea where to go afterwards. This time I took some inspiration from one of my photos and added a flower. Not a fancy one though, I didn't want to focus only on the flower so I kept it bright, but not dominating.

Practicing with some techniques. I have a direction I'm traveling in but taking the steps to get there is important so technique work is where I'm at. Art is like life, you never stop learning and trying to improve yourself.

Created with Ultra Fractal

*Edit: Took a lot of the advice and added a more noticeable texture to the flower. It's also iron that I spent days looking for the right algorythm to highlight the leaves with no luck and one almost falls on me when I'm updating the flower. Ah, the nature of fractals.

Beautiful! Love the texture in the greens. It really sets off the flower.

Wow, this is just an awesomely divine piece of yours. The greens textures make it seem like leaves and the contrats to the oranges and the yellows are very noticeable, and I love contrasts such as those. Awesome job! =)

I really like how you balanced the intense color of the flower with the intricacy of the leaves. At first I thought the flower was winning the focal point contest hands down, but in the full view the value contrast and the detail of the leaves hold their own quite well. This piece is very refreshing.

I do like this piece, a lot. Fractals have always interested me; but then I'm and Escher fan. I do not have the ability to create them, though some of my favorite work might be called abstract games with color theory. It is a personal thing, but I would reduce the intensity/luminosity of the color of the flower shape so that the patterns in the green would not be quite so overpowered.

I love the texture of the green leaves. But to be totally honest, and I'm not trying to be cruel, the flower really looks much more like a blob that blew up. Still, I really do like the amazing color contrast between the greens and the vibrant yellow/orange. Great job!
