Two fold reason for posting this.

First, I downloaded the newer version of apophysis (2.03b) to see what it was all about. So far I'm really impressed how they made the program more friendly to use and cured a lot of the old problems. Not sure about the new variations but it handles the old ones fine. Does this mean I'm back in the flame game? Time will tell.

Secondly, DA now has a fractal gallery. Every time I check it, there's nothing there so I figured I'd make my contribution to help get the gallery going. I've been wanting to do a wall with fractals for a while now so I figured now was a good enough time.

Haven't used apophysis in my gallery for quite a while so any feedback would be appreciated.

Nice one! I like how the box in the middle seems to be on a pedestal :D

Probably my strangest square in apo yet. Might tinker some if I get the time but I'm tied up in another image at the moment.

Do what you gotta do, amigo :D

reminds me of wings for some reason. :) so what's new about this newer version? Is it worth me finding it? lol
Aeires Featured By Owner Jan 22, 2006
I saw wings also.

The new version allows you to click and grab the image to move it around, as well as rotate, and it has preset values for moving triangles so that it is easier to move them. Also comes with more variations and around 600 gradients. It's not on the site so you'll have to google apophysis 2.03b for it (can't remember where the site was).

omg i kept waiting for that feature. everytime a new release came out i'd drag in the window and be disappinted i couldn't rotate it or move it. LOL

It has been a while since we've seen a fractal from you. Looks great. Loving the focal point in the center, and how it radiates out. really eye catching image

Thanks, Ben. I probably should devote more time to this new apo and see what it can really do.

I love the subtlety of the tones and wispy overlapping of colours on the outside. The box in the middle is so vibrant and colourful, it really is the highlight of this, I feel like it might have more character if the box was more centred though, hmm I dunno.

Very mysterious and a little freaky but awesomely freaky!

Whats grabbing me here is the precision control of brightness ...and of shape...:eyepopping: .. a little frightening really ...

i dont have this version..

....i'm gonna assume it's your superior command of triangle tuggin' that i'm seeing and not THAT much "ease of desire " placed into the new apo ....

Sharp stylization in terms of composition ...altho it would be a little kooler if the sides were a little meatier...but the precise placement of vibrancy /light still has my eyebrows raised dood .

We love that game but we never play
cause we will lose and we wanna stay
the way we are
...the way we've been for far too long

I like the window/door artifact in the center. It really pulls you in and makes you want to see what's behind it...

Yay! Looks great! :D

Very subtle with that big bang in the middle. I've been getting into Apo a little more myself these past few weeks. Have picked up some hints here and there on editing which have helped me a lot. Most of my current frustrations with Apo recently are hardward problems. P3s are just too slow when trying to edit. Must be getting old...

I think that it is perhaps the box is a little too bright while everything else is not quite bright enough, this really makes you lose some of the detail and color of everything except for the middle where there is perhaps too much detail and color (it is a little indistinct and confusing). Now I love the design, the lines, the colors, and pretty much everything else about it so don't take this in any way as a negative comment, it is just a little unbalanced but that is a minor thing. Once again this is just my opinion and everything that I have mentioned may have been intentional, in which case feel free to just ignore this. Overall it is an exceptional piece of work, you can rest assured that none of your skill has been in any way lost.

I'm no expert and of course have my own fractal visions!

The central image is just fascinatingly cool. I've never seen anything like it after (only) around 1 1/2 years of Apo. And so, why so tiny? And so much uncentred black around the main image.

Even the older versions had ways around that and the two newest (I don't like some of the changes in 2.03c) all have the capacity to render large zooms or close-ups on all fractals. Have you tried them or perhaps I am mistaken and this is the way you prefer your fractals to appear? What graphix program do you use most?

Please don't take offence at my comments because I know I'm not really courageous to hear things from others. Of course, I am often curious why no one looks at a pic I thought was pretty good (or I wouldn't have posted it, right?!?), or made a comment etc.

In my case, I find it hard to write kind yet contructive comments. It's so much easier to just delete the many meaningless ones that turn up on your watch.

So I assume that if there are no comments, the average person here either doesn't see it, has no time to comment or doesn't like it! That's the trouble with commenting, I think.

After all this lecturing! (no offence, really), I try to be polite and strongly encourage other fractaleers to explore their programs and use them to the max but that is different for everyone too. I couldn't write a script or formula if my life depended on it (though I can't imagine a situation like that unless they started percecuting artists like Hitler did!)!

Go for it. The new Apos are amazing! Lose the "random batch generator gang" and fool around with everything!

(Hey I got a little overly verbose there! Sorry! Tell me if I talk too much - no, on second thought don't! Would you mind if I posted this in my journal? Hahah)

Wow. :O_o: I like how the fractal seems to just ooze off the square in the middle. Your choice of colors is great here--dark and mysterious. This would indeed make a nice wallpaper.
