...could paint that.
Are you familiar with the documentary "My Kid Could Pain That?" Have you seen it? A 4 year old girl busted upon the abstract art world and caught everyone by surprise. What she was doing was painting extremely complex traditional abstract paintings that caught the attention of some gallery owners, who later featured her works and sold some for five figure prices. Experts and journalists all caught wind of what was going on and naturally, the questions started flying. Was this 4 year old girl a natural phenom? Or was it her dad who was actually doing all the work, after all, he aspired to be an artist himself but never had the talent to make a presence with his works. Why couldn't she paint with talent when a hidden camera filmed her? The movie not only raises questions on whether or not she was indeed a child phenom, but what exactly makes an abstract piece of work good. If you're into abstract works, you will definitely want to check this one out.
Another great movie I've seen recently is "Exit Through The Gift Shop." This one is about a compulsive obsessive person named Thierry Guetta, who unknowingly gets caught up in the world of street art. What started out as helping a friend post Atari symbols in LA, he decides to document some of the local artists by creating a film about them. Little by little word gets out about the documentary in work and he runs into Banksy. If you're unfamiliar with who Banksy is, Google him, you won't be disappointed. At first Banksy doesn't trust him but he decides to involve him in a zoo hijack scene where Banksy has planned to display some art. Most of the team gets busted, including Thierry. Banksy escapes the cops but was impressed that Thierry doesn't reveal anything when questioned for six hours straight. Deciding he's trustworthy, Banksy lets him in his inner circle, only to start to realize Thierry isn't quite right mentally. Tired of Thierry, he suggests to him that he should go and make his own piece of street art. What is a compulsive obsessive person to do, he interprets that as he should open his own art show. From there he sets out on a mad plan to create as much art as possible to feature, and creates a nickname for himself in order to promote the art gallery to the media. The media buys into it and soon thereafter, Thierry, aka Mr. Brainwash, is an instant star, making tons of money off of essentially ripped off ideas of other people's works. "Exit Through The Gift Shop" is a film by Banksy, who after being a part of Thierry's documentary swore he'd never submit to that again. The movie is a great look into the world of street art and raises some important questions on artist credibility and how far can you go without being considered "sold out."
Other than that, been incredibly busy with work. I had a meeting with the architects this week and what is coming down the pipeline this year is insane. In a nutshell, we are closing one of our medical facilities and migrating the entire building to the hospital I'm working at. Departments have to be moved to make room, construction, and hundreds of phones will have to be programmed when it's all said and done. Add that to the daily work I already have and I'm not going to have much time for this place. Some days I'm so burned out I don't even power up my computer, as it sits for days without being touched. I'll check in when possible, and maybe create a new piece or two in order to get the stress out (some of my best works were made under less than desirable conditions). So, have fun, be good, and hope to hear from you soon.
And btw, Unburried-Treasures is in need of admins. If you want to take over a group, drop a note and we'll see what happens. If someone doesn't step up, the group will be on hold for some time.

Hmmm.....
It's been a long time and too much has happened during that stretch, most of it not so good. Between jobs right now so I figured I'd work on some art and post it here. Much to my surprise, DA has changed. A lot. First impression, DA has become Microsoft. Windows used to be extremely easy to do things and the more they "upgraded" it, the more difficult it is to get basic functions completed. Uploaded two images into what I thought was the fractal gallery (topic says Fractal but it's severely lacking in images), but neither appear during searches of those galleries. Can't figure out how to change any browsing options. Used to be able to select new, popular, etc. but now you get what you get and that's about it. Finally figured out how to get to the people I watch, and it's much of the same as the main galleries, all the great options are now gone. Maybe they're not and it's another one of those things I have to relearn, again. I liked the ability to remove viewed images of
Reunion
Time flys, often too quickly. Last night was my 25th year school reunion, and in many ways it only seems like only a few years have gone by.
What question did I get asked the most last night? "Are you on Facebook?" I think I was one of maybe two people out of 50 or more that wasn't. My answer? "No, I'm on Deviantart." That was followed by blank stares, appears DA isn't as widely known as we deviants think it is. Luckily my Nexus 1 Android phone was getting good 3G signals so I was able to show them some of my art. Seeing is believing, I think many of them were interested in DA after seeing what it was all about.
It's amazing how man
Reality Checks
Why are you here?
I've probably asked myself that so many times that I've lost count. Mostly I'd say to help others, I even noticed that in my "About Me" link on my page, upper left under the avatar. I was updating my birthday settings and forgot that was in there. It was also in there to promote the artwork of others. Sometimes I fail, sometimes I hit the mark on both those goals.
And sometimes I get reminded of something very old and inspiring; perhaps of "simpler" times when I might have been more focused.
So You Want A Daily Deviation?
Thanks, Serathus (https://www.deviantart.com/serathus) for the blast from the past and for the slap in the face to not lose focus
Life is good.
You can spend your time focusing on the bad, or you can use that time to dwell on the good. There are so many negatives things trying to drag me down right now, but none of them are going to. Life is about choice, and I choose to be mentally positive in what I decide to think about.
Unburried-Treasures (https://www.deviantart.com/unburried-treasures) is starting to take off and it's a great feeling knowing we are helping people get some attention for their art. It's all good, and only going to get better.
On a humorous note, my last deviation has gotten some interesting attention. What started out as a post to spread some light on a long term theft problem has been received in so
